Colorize a Black/White Ansel Adams Image

For this one you're going to need a picture that was taken by Ansel Adam and you're going to need Photoshop. When you have the picture you're going to color, you just do the same s you did on the last assignment I posted. You paint with a paintbrush on low opacity. Still remember that it needs to look natural.

Colorize a Black/White Image

For this one you're going to need Photoshop and a picture, the picture can be of whatever you want, as long as you make it black and white. If your picture is not already in black and white you can make it black and white by going to image, pressing mode and then pressing grayscale. Now your picture is in grayscale. As you can see on my original picture (the one up highest) I had to do that to make my picture grayscale. Then you start coloring over the gray picture with a paintbrush on low opacity, if you don't have low opacity you will just paint overt everything, and trust me, it will NOT look good! As you can see on my colored result (the one at the bottom) the colors wasn't perfect, but it looks natural, and that's the point! To get your picture to look as natural as possible.

Picasso-esque Cubist Digital Portrait

For this one you're just going to need a face, you can use any face you would like, but I used a celebrity face. So when you are done finding the face you're going to use, you can start finding the same person's face, but from different angles. I chose Taylor Swift and the picture you can see up to the right is the original picture. When you start adding all of the other faces you want to add them so people can get confused, or so that people think the picture looks weird. If the faces are to big, you can choose the layer that's to big and start to erase the part you don't want to have in the end. Then after a bit of work placing everything on, you're done. The picture you can see to the upper left is the product I ended up with.

Surrealist Digital Portrait (Fruit/Vegetables)

For this assignment you need a outline of a head, and some fruits or vegetables. So first you drag your fruit or vegetables on the head and start to form the face using different sized fruit and vegetables. In my examples I used fruit and used different sizes on the fruit. On the top is my result.

Surrealist Digital Landscape

So for this one you're going to need a background, and some animals and other weird pictures. So first you place your background in Photoshop. Then you use the Magnetic Lasso Tool to cut out all of the animals and all of the other weird pictures. After that you place them on the background. My finished picture is the one to the left, and the picture to the right is the original picture.

ArtRage Composition:Formal/Informal Balance

For this one all you need is a picture of something you want to draw, but the picture you chose to draw must be an example of formal or informal balance! Formal balance is when the picture is close to exactly the same on both sides if you cut it in half, informal balance is when the picture is not the same on both sides when you cut it in half. When you have your picture you can just start to draw your picture in ArtRage or SketchBookPro if you don't have ArtRage. My drawing (the drawing over all of this text) is an example of formal balance because it's the exact same things on both sides.

Create a New Logo for Favorite Brand (ArtRage)

So what you're going to need for this one is SketchBookPro and something to save your drawing with. So first you open SketchBookPro and start planning what logo you want to draw, I chose Netflix because Netflix is awesome, so Netflix's original logo is on the bottom. So when you have picked what logo you want you just make the logo in SketchBookPro and try to make it really different. Then you're done. So the top picture is my drawing of Netflix's logo.

Warhol-esque Digital Painting

So for this one you first need to have a picture of a friend, a family member or an animal, the picture to the left is the picture that I chose. When you have your picture ready, you have to open the picture in photoshop and unlock the image (doubletap on the picture), then you go to filter, choose sketch and stamp. When you are done with that you choose enhance, choose adjust color, then choose adjust hue/saturation and choose the color you would like. You do that as many times you want depending on how many images you want. When you are done coloring you drag the picture in to a new file, and then you flatten image and save it as a jpg, then you're done! The picture you see on the right is how my picture turned out.

Georgia O'Keeffe-Inspired Digital Painting

So for this one you first need a picture of a flower. You can search for a picture of a flower, or you can choose one that you took yourself. So then you open the picture in photoshop, then you open a new layer an start to color on that new layer. You also want to crop the picture to get a more closer and more detailed look on your drawn flower. Then you just color, than you're done!

Digital Post-Impressonist Landscape

This was so boring and painful! Because I painted dot by dot! And that took a lot of time! So first you search for an image you want to make, and then you open photoshop (do not open Adobe Photoshop CS5) and you choose the dotting tool. When you have the dotting tool chosen you start to dot all over the picture. If you are planning on doing this, remember that I warned you in the beginning!

Street Art Piece in ArtRage

First I opened ArtRage 2 Deluxe and picked a background to use behind the art, then I found an idea of something I could draw that would represent something that is a problem. I started to paint, and when I was done I saved it. This picture is supposed to represent that the earth is getting warmer that's why it is melting and it has a banana on top because we throw to much garbage on the ground, and not in the trash can.

Rothko-esque Painting in ArtRage

First I opened ArtRage and decided the size on the image, then I started to paint and use the palette knife to blend all of the colors together. Then I added another layer in the middle of the image and started to blend those colors with the palette knife. At the end I added some white in between the different colors so you could see them more clearly.
